At K-9 Caring Angels, we believe dog training should be more than just commands... it should be transformational for both dogs and the people who rely on them.
Founded over 15 years ago, we’ve grown into a nationally recognized organization that offers both professional dog training services and a mission-driven nonprofit that places therapy and service dogs with the people who need them most.
We proudly serve two roles under one purpose:
🐾 America’s K-9 Caring Angels Dog Training (For-Profit)
Our professional training programs help everyday pet owners build strong, reliable relationships with their dogs. From basic obedience and puppy training to advanced behavior modification and off-leash work, we create confident, well-mannered dogs and owners who can take pride in them.
🎖 K-9 Caring Angels Therapy & Service Dogs 501(c)(3) (Nonprofit)
Our nonprofit exists to serve veterans first and foremost. We train and place psychiatric service dogs with veterans living with PTSD, anxiety, depression, or other service-connected disabilities. These dogs are specifically matched and trained to provide critical support, stability, and independence to those who’ve sacrificed so much.
In addition to our work with veterans, we also place facility dogs with select police and fire departments, schools, and community-based agencies to promote emotional wellness and crisis response support.
Every placement reflects our commitment to service, purpose, and changing lives through the healing power of a well-trained dog.
🐾 Our Broader Impact
Across the country, many of the private clients we’ve helped train and certify with their dogs continue to give back in meaningful ways visiting assisted living centers, participating in kids’ reading programs, supporting students during exams, comforting hospice patients, promoting dog safety, and offering calm in the wake of traumatic events.
The demand for therapy dog support in Northern Virginia alone continues to grow—and often outpaces the number of available volunteer teams.
💼 Our Professional Training Roots
In response to that growing need, America’s K-9 Caring Angels Dog Training was launched in March 2022 by Sonny and Ted Madsen as a for-profit extension of our nonprofit work providing high-level, professional dog training to Northern Virginia and beyond.
Our programs specialize in basic obedience, behavior modification, emotional support animals (ESA), therapy dogs, and psychiatric service dogs with an emphasis on real-world reliability, strong community engagement, and life-changing results.
