What Is a Therapy Dog?
A Therapy Dog is a dog trained to bring comfort, encouragement, and emotional support to people who need it most. Working alongside their handler, therapy dogs visit places like hospitals, assisted living communities, schools, and community events where a calm, friendly dog can brighten someone’s day and make a meaningful difference.
Sometimes that difference is helping a child build confidence while learning to read. Other times it’s bringing comfort to someone in a hospital, lifting the spirits of residents in assisted living, or supporting first responders and community members during stressful times.
These moments may seem small, but the impact can be powerful.
At America’s K-9 Caring Angels, our Therapy Dog Training Program prepares both you and your dog for this important work. We help your dog develop the calm temperament, reliable obedience, and confidence needed to safely interact with people in many different environments.
Just as important, we help you grow as a team with your dog. Therapy work depends on the trust, communication, and partnership between handler and dog, and our program is designed to strengthen that bond every step of the way.
Through structured training, guidance, and preparation for certification testing, we help you and your dog meet the standards required to become a certified therapy dog team. Our goal is to prepare you to confidently share your dog’s gift of comfort, connection, and joy with people throughout your community.
For many of our clients, becoming a therapy team is one of the most meaningful experiences they will ever share with their dog.
A Powerful Added Benefit
One of the great benefits of our Therapy Dog Program is that you’ll end up with an amazingly well-trained, responsive, and obedient dog. The kind of dog that turns heads and makes friends, family, and neighbors say, “I wish my dog listened like that.”
And the truth is — they can.
It all starts with the right training and the right guidance.
